MP4/1A

The MP4/1A was the first variant of the McLaren MP4/1, introduced in 1981. It featured a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque chassis, which was revolutionary at the time. Powered by a Ford Cosworth DFV engine, the MP4/1A set new standards in Formula One for performance and safety. It competed successfully in the early 1980s, paving the way for future developments in the MP4 series.
